a bitter death

the irony in avoiding the full disclosure of affections, in fear of their departure.

i suppose it takes the most delusional to believe someone is truly special, when in reality no one truly is.

how bittersweet to leave, feigning optimism. yet within us echoes impending melancholy.

truly foolish.

el beso

they used to measure the passage of hours according to the fading of emotions and the dissipation of memory.

that is time, they would say, coursing through us, taking the moment along with it. permanence is granted within us, as our faint murmurs of life remain our only guidance.

time is, but, a remedy for longing.

a wolf wearing sheep’s clothes

reconnecting with one once known rekindles the person i once was, when we were anything but acquaintances.

i do this warily, knowing i am severing the stem of growth i have succombed to throughout the years.

one can always tell when we’re wearing outgrown clothes. the indents are shown through the flushed skin, impromptu prolonged silences, and wistful smiles. perhaps, it was better off living in isolation from the ones we’ve grown past.

and then as if nothing at all happened, we move on.

we never speak again.

from a hello to a goodbye.
